Energy-efficient motor runs continuously to prevent costly ice damage
Protect your dock, boats, and shoreline all winter with the Power House Ice Eater. This reliable dock and pond de-icer circulates warm subsurface water, creating continuous movement that prevents ice formation and melts existing ice. It’s ideal for harsh winter weather and year-round water circulation.
Thanks to its patented venturi-style shroud, the Ice Eater draws up warmer bottom water and pushes it outward in a powerful directional flow. It’s an excellent tool for moving muck and debris in warmer months, making it a year-round maintenance solution for waterfront property owners.
Each unit is built for performance and durability, keeping areas up to 80 feet in diameter ice-free. The bronze end-bell and rugged housing can withstand extreme conditions without losing performance. Choose from ¼ to 1 HP motors in 115V (with plug) or 230V (bare wires without plug) power options, with cord lengths ranging from 25 to 150 feet to match your setup.
The Ice Eater arrives fully assembled and ready to go—just lower it into the water and plug it in. Each unit includes a quick-disconnect power cord, mooring lines, stainless steel hardware, and a sacrificial anode for long-term protection—no tools required for setup.
Box Contents
Complete package includes:
• Assembled motor unit
• Shroud
• (2) 25’ long 3/8” thick hollow braided polypropylene ropes
• SJTOW rated 3 wire power cord
• Sacrificial aluminum anode
Saltwater Applications
The included Sacrificial Aluminum Anode should be installed for corrosion protection when using the de-icer in salt-water applications. Additional Sacrificial Aluminum Anodes are available for corrosion protection and use in salt-water applications.
In addition to the Sacrificial Aluminum Anodes, Saltwater Electrolysis Kits can also be used as a secondary anode to protect the Power House Ice Eater motor from deterioration and corrosion against electrolysis in areas of high salinity (saltwater), high electrical current, brackish water or warm waters.
The Electrolysis Kit includes a strap that holds two aluminum anode halves around the motor. The anodes are sacrificial and will deteriorate over time. We recommend checking the aluminum anodes every 2-3 months and replacing them when they reduce to half the original size.
When to Use
The Ice Eater is used to protect your docks, piers, marinas, and boats from ice and ice damage. Ice can twist your dock and even completely pull pilings out of the ground without protection from the Ice Eaters. Some boat owners pull their boats from the water during the winter months, costing them wrapping fees and storage. Pulling a boat is a major time commitment. Another option is to use an Ice Eater to protect your boats during the winter, preventing ice scratches and punctures on the coldest days. This allows you, your friends, and your family the ability to take advantage of those unseasonably warm winter days and go for that surge of the moment high seas adventure. You can't get back on your boat at a moment's notice if it's been stored away. The 1Hp Ice Eater can clear an area as large as 80' to protect your assets before the ice sets
Have direct control over your Ice Eater with Power House Thermostat. The thermostat controls the power to the Ice Eater, using ambient air temperature. Set the thermostat to your desired temp, and your Ice Eater will turn off/on as the temperatures rise/fall.
Dock Mounting Requirements
The optional dock mount accessory will allow you full control over the position of your Ice Eater. The Dock Mount includes a steel mounting base, base bale with clevis pins and clips, pipe holder, and a tightening handle. Customer Must Provide: 1-5/16" galvanized or stainless pipe and U-bolts or lag bolts.
Shallow Water Mount Option
Power House Shallow Water Stand attaches to the 3/4 HP or 1 HP Power House Ice Eater motors. This is a great option to add directional flow to any shallow water area that does not have a dock or pier. Once the motor is attached to the stand you can change the angle, direction, and depth of the motor. Ideal use for winter deicing, summer weed control, creating fish-attracting currents or removing oil spills around your dock or boat. (2) 9/16 wrenches are not included, but are required to assemble the stand.
